The Georgia native is one-third of the Blue Man Groups North America tour, which will stage five shows Friday through Sunday at Civic Center Music Hall, 201 N. Walker. The theatrical multimedia troupe is known worldwide for its energetic shows, absence of dialogue and, above all, bald heads covered in blue greasepaint.
The anonymity is one of the things I like best about it, said Massey, whos been with Blue Man Group since 2005. Its one of the few things thats all about the show and the art. No ones coming to see the person behind the paint.
That helps him get into character, he said, and while the touring show follows a structure 40 percent of which is new material each performance is a bit different. Audience response dictates the direction of the trios improvisation.
How we get from point A to point B varies, Massey said. Thats the fun journey we get to take from the start of every show.
