Kids can blast off into the infinite and beyond all day Thursday at Science Museum Oklahoma, 2100 N.E. 52nd, during the museum's annual Space Day.

"(Space Day) is an opportunity for kids and families from all over Oklahoma to come out and really get a feel for what space science is all about," said Alex Mattison, communications coordinator. "This lets kids know that, 'Hey, there's a future in space exploration, and Oklahoma is a pretty darned good place for it.'"

Kids and families will be able to take part in eight hands-on experiments that deal with space science, such as a exploring gravity and building rockets.

Former astronaut John Herrington, an Oklahoma native and member of the Chickasaw Nation, will help command Space Day by speaking about orbiting earth with NASA. The first American Indian in space, Herrington will give two lectures and answer questions about space travel, Mattison said.

All Space Day events are available with general admission, which is $14.95 for adults and $11.95 for seniors and children 4-12. Kids 3 and under are free. For more information, call 602-6664 or visit www.sciencemuseumok.org. "LeighAnne Manwarren
