Kids' kitty play holding final performances

"Puss in Boots," a production of Oklahoma Children's Theatre, takes the stage at 11 a.m. Wednesday through Friday. These three days mark the final performances of the show, which began April 26.

According to an OCT press release, the participation of kids in the audience is key to this adaptation of the classic children's fairy tale, which originated in Europe as early as the 17th century.

PLOT
The plot involves a man named Simple, who befriends the titular cat and befits him with a pair of boots. In exchange, the crafty kitty promises to find Simple a home.

He does just that, as well as plays matchmaker for Simple and defeats an evil ogre in the process.

"This telling of 'Puss in Boots' is faithful to the inventive wit "¦ that (has) made the tale popular for generations," the press release reads. "It's funny; it's fast-paced; it's filled with opportunities for swordplay and directorial ingenuity."

Performances will be held at Burg Theatre on the Oklahoma City University campus, 2501 N. Blackwelder.

Tickets are $5 for children ages 2-12, or $7 for children age 13 and older. Group rate admission also can be purchased at $4 per ticket for 20 or more children.
