Leadership Oklahoma City celebrates 25 years

Leadership Oklahoma City began as a one-day training program to talk about ideas, leadership and how to get involved.

"It became something that people wanted to do," said Greg Wheeler, president of this year's class. "It's really taken off ever since then."

What started out as 30 people 25 years ago has now evolved to more than 1,000 graduates, multiple classes and a lasting impact on Oklahoma City.

To celebrate, Leadership Oklahoma City is holding a 25th-year anniversary party Monday at the downtown Skirvin Hilton Hotel.

Zelley said that in the past 25 years, graduates of the program have made quite an impact on the city.

"Leadership OKC grads have been involved in a variety of projects that have made a difference," she said. "I've been involved in the program for 17 years, and each year, I learn something new," Zelley said. "Krista Nightengale
