Lego'd

Starting Saturday, kids can see what Oklahoma City would look like if it were under attack by aliens, at this year’s OK CityScape.

The annual exhibit is a replica of the Oklahoma City skyline, built out of 2 million Legos. To celebrate OK CityScape’s third year, the creative director for the project decided to put Oklahoma City under an “UltraGalactic MegaFantastic” theme.

“We like to keep the exhibit new and fresh every year and we thought an alien invasion would be something fun,” said Rachel Hernandez, president of The Exchange, which is hosting the event.

To fit the theme, the Lego exhibit includes black lights, lasers and UFOs.

Incorporated into this year’s model are the newly renovated Myriad Gardens and additions to the Devon tower. The interactive exhibit lets kids in on the fun.

“There are lots of buttons to press for little ones — there are remotecontrolled boats; there’s a kids’ construction table where they can build their own Lego models,” Hernandez said.

Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for kids age 3 to 12, and free for kids 2 and under. OK CityScape will remain on display from noon to 8 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, and from noon to 6 p.m. Sundays, through Dec. 31 at 1100 N. Broadway. Proceeds will benefit Oklahoma City Educare, a nonprofit organization that helps at-risk kids with early childhood education and emotional development.
