Letter to CFN about Oklahoma State graduate's marital woes

We at CFN love positive feedback. Nothing warms the cockles of the heart more than sincere appreciation from the community.

CFN is all about giving. In that spirit, we'd like to share a recent CFN letter from Edmond resident Katy Jones. The Jan. 16 CFN she references was about John Cleese, a member of the famous "Monty Python's Flying Circus," separating from his wife, Alyce Faye Eichelberger Cleese, a former Oklahoma State University student.

"I was under the impression that the Chicken-Fried News section was supposed to be a source of entertainment, and a place where readers could find interesting stories that were not mainstream," Jones wrote. "However, the recent (CFN), 'And now for something completely different,' had absolutely no value at all, except to insult a major university in this state.

"It discussed John Cleese's divorce from a woman who had several degrees, one of which was from Oklahoma State University. The story implied that it was a ridiculous for a man of his caliber to marry an OSU grad. Maybe it's my Aggie education, but I'm having a hard time understanding why this is so ludicrous. The story failed to mention where John went to school; would that have made a difference? Since when does where one graduates college from determine what class they can marry into? And, since when is an OSU degree something one shouldn't be proud of?"

Well put. CFN isn't about to argue. If we did, we'd have to throw in some shoddy references to Python's "Argument Clinic" sketch.
