Beginning in the 1500s, Europeans produced fantastical images of America’s original inhabitants. This theme challenges the stereotypical stories of Native people as living in a mythical past or as a pure but vanishing race who are isolated to reservations, removed from the rest of American society. The program is free and open to the public. Each session features a scholarly lecture and small-group discussion on that week’s title.
