Makeup expert to transform kids into monsters

It's that time of year again when your perfect little angels transform into gory, grotesque monsters before your eyes. It's Halloween, and this year, let your kids go all out.

The Ronald J. Norick Downtown Library will host its first "Monster Makeup for Kids" session from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

Professional special effects makeup artist Jonathan Hall will teach kids how to make their Halloween costumes stand out this year with a few makeup tips.

"I'm going to teach them the basics " how to do cuts, burns, a black eye and how to perfect the dead look," Hall said. "We are going to use different kinds of makeup, wax and gelatin to make this look real. And, it will be easy enough for the kids to do it themselves when the big day comes."

"Monster Makeup for Kids" is a free event and is recommended for elementary-age kids. Anyone interested is asked to sign up at the children's desk on the first floor of the library, 300 Park Ave.

Hall will supply all of the materials, so kids don't need to bring anything but their Halloween spirit.

"This is going to be great for those kids who want to do something a little out of the norm this year," he said.
