Gov. Mary Fallin will be the first governor to open all the doors in the governors mansion, during this years Septemberfest, held on the grounds of the home.
The governor and her husband will welcome families from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Saturday for a variety of free, family-friendly activities, including mansion tours.
This year, the governor really wanted people to tour all of the rooms, Septemberfest volunteer Jennifer Dennis-Smith said.
On-site agricultural displays will teach visitors how to milk a cow and churn butter, and farm equipment will be on display for kids curious eyes. Among other activities, children can participate in storytime with the governor. And thats not all.
The Oklahoma City Thunder Girls will be there, which is more for the older kids, Dennis-Smith said.
Across the street at 800 Nazih Zudhi, the Oklahoma History Center will host free admission on the day of the festival. The museum will host educational activities and showcase its newest exhibit, Pickin and Grinnin: Roy Clark, Hee Haw & Country Humor.
Families can bring picnic lunches to eat on the mansions grounds or buy food from vendors booths.
Septemberfest began 15 years ago as a chance for Oklahoma families to learn about and celebrate the states heritage and culture.
Septemberfest is one of the most varied events you can attend in Oklahoma without paying a dime, Dennis-Smith said.
