Mayor v. councilor

Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett had something to say at last Thursday's City Council meeting. Something very important to say.

"You said I told Councilor (Chris) Trail to go to H-E-L-L," the good mayor asked City Councilor Jack Henderson, according to the Tulsa World. No word on if he spelled out the offensive underworld or went with the more refined "H-E-double hockey sticks."

Apparently, Bartlett was less than chuffed about what Henderson said about him the previous Tuesday. According to the Tulsa World, the mayor circumvented the council and issued an executive order on that Tuesday. Councilor Henderson responded to the news by reportedly saying that not including the councilors was the same as telling them where to go, according to the World.

But Bartlett wasn't deterred. "The council chamber," he said, "is not the place for such activities or profanity, for certain. I encourage councilors not to participate in that type of activity."

To which Henderson said: "I have an opinion and have the right to state it."

Obviously, there's only one way to solve this: a duel. Pistols may be too gauche for the proper Bartlett, so we suggest fancy swords.
