Moore hosts family safety, health fair

Kids and parents can have fun learning about health, safety, summer camps and more Saturday at the 11th annual Moore Summer Fun and Safety Fair.

The free informational fair will promote bicycle safety through a bicycle rodeo, in which kids can test their wheel skills out on an obstacle course and receive a complimentary bicycle helmet upon completion. A car-seat check will also be available, as well as blood pressure checks and a smoke trailer that children can crawl through to learn fire safety.

"It's basically just an event that we do for the kids to have fun," said Teresa Smith, City of Moore special events coordinator.

EXPECTATIONS
She said organizers expect at least 300 to attend the 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. event. The fair also includes magicians, clowns, a moon bounce, face painting and prizes for kids, but all ages are welcome. Parents can also get information on kids' summer camps from Oklahoma City Community College, YMCA and others.

Onsite educators will also warn children about dangerous oil field equipment and teach basic electrical safety.

The event will be held at the Moore Public Library, Moore Health Department and Moore Community Center, 301 S. Howard, all of which are within walking distance. For more information, call 793-5090.
