A day after the Oklahoma City school board had to reconvene to consider suspending Superintendent John Q. Porter, the group made the same decision as they did Jan. 7.
Allegations arose Jan. 10 that the Jan. 7 Oklahoma City school board meeting -- in which the members voted to suspend Porter with pay until a Feb. 6 hearing to discuss allegations of misuse of district funds -- did not meet the Open Meeting Act's standards.
A subsequent meeting was held today in which the board took the same action.
According to the Associated Press, Oklahoma County District Attorney David Prater today said the board did violate the act but no charges will be filed.
Porter released a statement following the meeting in which he thanked supporters who were in attendance.
"It is no surprise the board took the same action today that they took on Monday. I have addressed the allegations publicly and will continue to be open and transparent," Porter said in the statement. "I would like to thank board member Wilfredo Santos Rivera for his vote today and I look forward to the day that Cliff and I can sit down and work out our differences and do what is right for the children of this district.
