NFL legend Emmitt Smith to speak at Champions of Health awards

Former Dallas Cowboys running back and National Football League Hall of Fame inductee Emmitt Smith will serve as keynote speaker of the 2010 Champions of Health awards 6 p.m., Oct. 18, at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.

The awards honor individuals and organizations making a difference in the health of Oklahomans.

Five winners will be recognized, including 2010 Children's Health Champion, the "Farm to You" program. It also will receive the highest honor of the night, the Dr. Rodney Huey Memorial Champion of Oklahoma Health award.

Other winners include:
"   Rylyn Meacham Center in Bethany as Champion of the Uninsured;
"   RSVP of Central Oklahoma in Oklahoma City as Champion of Senior Health;
"   Oklahoma Area Health Education Centers at the Center for Rural Health Sciences, OSU Center for Health Sciences in Tulsa as Community Health Champion; and
"   OU Physicians in Oklahoma City as Corporate Health Champion.

Table sponsorships will benefit the Oklahoma Caring Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization that provides low-income Oklahoma children with free immunizations and basic access to health care.
