Move over, Beethoven. Here come the Brits.

The University of Oklahoma's Catlett Music Center, 500 W. Boyd in Norman, will be stricken with Beatlemania as the mop-top tribute band 1964 ... the Tribute performs 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. 1964 recreates the mid-'60s Beatles for a concert Rolling Stone dubbed "the best Beatles tribute on Earth."

Andy Babiuk, author of "Beatles Gear," and Beatlesuits.com's Russ Lease will give a 6 p.m. presentation on the history of The Beatles both nights. Babiuk has written about the band's legacy and history, and has performed as a musician with other bands on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and "The Sopranos."

Lease has also appeared on television, displaying his collection of suits originally owned by Beatles members. Some of the his memorabilia will be on display at the shows this weekend.
Carl Rath, associate professor of music at OU, said he has been involved in bringing the group to campus since 1996 as a part of his Beatles history class.

"They're the No. 1 Beatles show in the world," he said. "They play exact replica instruments, and the guy who played Paul (McCartney) learned to play lefthanded. Vocally, they blow everyone else off the stage."

Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for children in advance, or $30 and $20
at the door, respectively. For more information, call 325-4101. "LeighAnne Manwarren
