I always have lofty goals of finishing said shopping ahead of time, but it never quite shakes out that way.

Silver lining? I’ve got the scoop on some local spots that will have you tardy shoppers attired and ready in no time for a fancy cocktail on a quiet evening with pals.

Recently,
I wandered around a shopping area brimming with boutiques, and I was
impressed by the unique selection offered among the three shops. It was
nice to have the convenience of more than one shop’s selections in
walking distance and not fight holiday crowds inside a mall. Finding a
parking spot was a non-issue, as well, which is a huge bonus.

First, Funky Monkey (14101 N. May;
748-7066), right next door to Trichology Salon. This lovely space is
clean and bright and stuffed full of things you’re going to want.

In
front, home of go-to NYE dresses: Glittery, sequined and short. They’re
all classy and well-made. Sparkly is always a great choice for NYE,
especially when paired with tights and some sky-high wedges. However, if
you’re twinkled out from Christmas, you’ll be able to choose from an
array of other bright dress options. One in particular is a red wrap
dress that could be worn for many occasions, not just NYE. I mention
that because it’s a little pricey, but would be a worthwhile investment
in terms of wearability.

Walk a few doors down to Lush Fashion Lounge
(936-0680). Although a smaller shop, its selection of party- appropriate
dresses is impressive. From cocktail and formal to casual and daily
(think flowy), this little boutique is proudly filled with plenty of
selection.  If you’re on a budget, head to the back of the store for a
deeply discounted
area. It’s not the usual pile of rejected and poorly sewn garments,
either. You might just end up with a few options for NYE for a very
reasonable price!

Wardrobe change, anyone? On the north end of the
shopping area (the Coolgreens end), you’ll find Ten14: A Boutique
(755-0356). A larger, open shop, it has a variety of dresses that isn’t
as extensive, but the selection presented makes up for the limited
options. You’ll find high-end cocktails to casual maxis and everything
in between. If you’ve got a fancy engagement, check out the racks in
the center of the store that show off several nude and black numbers to
ensure you look polished at NYE events and beyond.

So,
don’t panic. You’ve still got a city full of options, particularly
three boutiques you can go and peruse, all without fighting parking or
jam-packed malls. Let’s shop, OKC!
