Hamburger King has been a Shawnee staple for a long time, and with good reason. It serves thick, juicy burgers on buttered and toasted buns without an ounce of fanfare. The lack of pretension and the perfect amount of grease on the bag is a sign that the King is doing something very right. Its worth the drive.

The reasons for driving to Edmond for dinner involve some of the best burgers in town. With a menu that covers classic burgers and exciting flavor pairings on specialty burgers, Flatire should be on your where to eat list. It also offers a variety of other menu items, including fresh salads and fish tacos. The loaded fries are just about a perfect match for any burger. Can you really have too much cheese? We dont think so.

This quiet joint on N. Western Avenue sits just south of the strip and sometimes gets overlooked for newer, fancier places. The constant presence of regular customers and the fact that it has been going strong while other restaurants have come and gone tells you a lot about it. Get the fried- onion double cheeseburger with the crispy fries. You wont regret it. Also, Abrahams has a great breakfast menu with all the staples at great prices.

With perfectly seasoned meat, freshly baked buns that are buttery and toasted and perfect house-made onion rings and fries, you cant go wrong. The folks at Geronimo are old-school, and these are old- fashioned burgers. As a super-special bonus, the restaurant also makes donuts, and they are some of the biggest we have ever seen.

The sausage burger at Rons, made of part Oklahoma-made Blue & Gold sausage and part beef, is one of the most tender and flavorful burgers that we have ever had the pleasure of eating. Combine that with Rons award-winning chili and you have the lunch or dinner of champions. You might, however, need a nap afterward. If burgers arent your style, then we question your style, but there are some fine hot dogs, chili and even lighter fare like salads and sandwiches on the menu as well.

What can we say about The Patty Wagon? To know it is to love it. The eats include local, natural, grass-fed beef seasoned to perfection and grilled on a bun that could stand alone. The Belgian-style french fries are always fresh out of the fryer.
We havent had anything here that isnt jaw-droppingly good. Before you add the condiments, taste the burger as it comes this isnt your typical drown it with ketchup burger. One bite and youll be planning your next visit.

Yes, its in a pool hall. Yes, the lighting is dim, and its generally full of serious pool-players. Do not let this dissuade you from getting to know one of the finest burgers in the metro. Belly up to the bar and order a classic cheeseburger. Watch it grilled on a flattop griddle right in front of your eyes, and then taste perfection. Pair it with an order of hot, fresh onion rings and an ice-cold brew and youll be thankful we told you about it.
