OKG Photos: Carousel gets a fresh spin at Myriad Botanical Gardens

For people who grew up shopping and socializing at Crossroads Mall during its halcyon days, the carousel was a kids' destination and a memorable focal point. After the mall's decline and fall and subsequent but brief life as Plaza Mayor, the carousel that entertained thousands of children needed a new home.

Thanks to a generous donation by Crossroads/Plaza Mayor owners Michael Dillard and Roddy Bates and sponsorship efforts from Lee Allan Smith and LaDonna and Herman Meinders, the carousel officially opened Wednesday at Myriad Botanical Gardens. Now named after Meinders Foundation treasurer Mo Grotjohn, who participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Mo's Carousel will give new generations of OKC children a memorable ride.
