Oklahoma City holds RiverFest event

The third annual Oklahoma RiverFest is a three-day celebration featuring river cruises, paddleboats, Chesapeake Boathouse tours, rowing demonstrations, a park of inflatables and the increasingly popular dragon boat team racing.

As Central Oklahoma's temperatures begin to climb steadily, residents across the city look for opportunities to keep cool.

And as the dog days reach their apex, swimming pools and water parks will fill with excited patrons, happy to escape the heat, if only for a few moments. It's an idyllic summertime scene and an annual tradition " now, one of the metro's newest events is starting a tradition of its own by bringing a little more splash to the summer fun.

In addition to the festivities, this year's RiverFest will mark the beginning of the Oklahoma City Navy Week, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the commissioning of the USS Oklahoma City submarine. A Navy band, sub crew members and interactive exhibits will help kick off the tribute.
