Well, this story is no different regarding Terrill. The Moore Republican state rep.'s recent bankruptcy filings report that he spent more than $2,000 in campaign money for University of Oklahoma football tickets.
The expenditures surfaced during an ongoing series of filings in federal court over allegations, filed earlier this year, which claim Terrill did not report more than $11,000 in assets. A trustee alleged a loan Terrill made to his 2004 election funds was not reported in his bankruptcy case.
Terrill told OKGazette.com the allegations were introduced by the "south Oklahoma City immigration lawyer cartel," a mysterious group of attorneys who are attacking him from the shadows because he is the author of House Bill 1804, Oklahoma's new law cracking down on illegal immigrants.
However, Jeff West, Terrill's attorney, accounts for some of the payments from Terrill's campaign funds " OU Football tickets.
"A review of the relevant records indicate that the campaign did in fact write a check to Mr. Terrill for reimbursement of $1,500 that Mr. Terrill had spent on Oklahoma University (OU) football tickets he purchased from his personal account for the benefit of various community and political party organizations such as the Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, Cleveland County Republican Party, campaign volunteers, contributors and constituents," the filing states.
Now, perhaps it would be a good idea to point out that Terrill is a member of the state House of Representatives Appropriations and Budget Committee, and that he chairs the Revenue and Taxation Subcommittee. Could we budget for state residents to get some OU tickets?
It does make one think. For instance, Bucky just left to join the Chamber of Commerce.
