Oklahoma Watch-Out: The State Question on Victims' Rights

Oklahoma Watch, in partnership with the League of Women Voters of Oklahoma, will host a public forum on Thursday, Sept. 27, in Oklahoma City about State Question 794, which would amend the Oklahoma Constitution to reinforce and extend the rights of crime victims. The so-called "Marsy's Law" proposal, which has passed in other states, is intended to ensure that crime victims are provided rights equal to those of the accused. But opponents argue the measure would duplicate current victims' rights laws and place an unreasonable financial burden on local court systems.
