Oklahomans' original art featured at Fred Jones

"Out of Oklahoma: Contemporary Artists from Ruscha to Andoe" "? at the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art, 555 Elm in Norman "? is part of this year's ongoing Oklahoma centennial celebration. More than 35 paintings, sculptures and photographs are included in the exhibit, each of which was created by an Oklahoma-born or -trained artist.

The compilation of original artwork by artists such as:
" Carolyn Brady,
" Harold Stevenson and
" Leon Polk Smith
demonstrates the influential role Oklahomans have played in the national art scene since 1960. Many of these artists are graduates of the University of Oklahoma, so the museum is able to showcase something special.

"We are lucky enough to have some of their student work to show in conjunction with their more mature work," said Gail Kana Anderson, assistant director and curator of collections at the museum. "In some cases, their work is very similar, and in other cases, it's just phenomenally different."

The exhibit will be displayed through Jan. 6, 2008.
