Photography exhibit captures all 77 Oklahoma counties

The International Photography Hall of Fame & Museum's "Celebrating Oklahoma!" exhibit features 47 images by Mike Klemme, each of which celebrates the strength and dignity that define the state. The exhibit hangs on the walls of IPHF's main gallery at the Omniplex, 2100 N.E. 52nd.

"'Celebrating Oklahoma!' is designed to celebrate the very best Oklahoma has to offer and to enhance our state's image across the country and around the world," Klemme said, in a press release. "I wanted to capture the rich spirit of Oklahoma through an inspiring, engaging and emotional photographic collection."

STATEWIDE EFFORT
Klemme began traveling the state in 2005 and successfully stopped in all 77 counties to compile the right images for his collection, which features photographs of Oklahoma's sunsets, Red Earth Festival dancers and a variety of people and places that add to the diversity of the Sooner State.

IPHF Director Katie Sutton said she is excited to feature the exhibit as a centennial event.

"This year, we've been celebrating the centennial and this is really the culmination of that celebration," Sutton said. "The exhibit is about who we are today and where we're going in the future. It's kind of a comprehensive look at what Oklahoma is today."

"Celebrating Oklahoma" will be on display until Dec. 2. For more information, call 424-4055 or visit their site.
