Principal Financial Group Family Fun Fest celebrates anniversary

Hitting a home run with baseball fans since 2004, Principal Financial Group Family Fun Fest will celebrate its fifth anniversary starting at 4:05 p.m. Sunday at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark, 2 S. Mickey Mantle.

The day-long festival celebrates the good ol' American pastime of baseball, and is the first and most extensive traveling festival of its kind in the country. It visits Minor League Baseball teams all over the U.S., bringing a range of activities to keep even the biggest (and smallest) enthusiasts of the sport engaged.

REDHAWKS GAME
From a Minor League Baseball museum and batting and pitching cages to bounce houses, bungee runs and a "Rookie Zone" for younger attendees, this festival caters to every fan in the family with a variety of activities before the 7:05 p.m. Oklahoma Redhawks game.

"The minor leagues offer fans a great baseball experience," said Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan, national spokesman for the event, in a press release. "From exceptional value to a safe, family environment, fans get to see competitive professional baseball with nonstop entertainment."

This year, the festival is also featuring a philanthropic event in addition to the other attractions. Guests are asked to bring new or used baseball equipment for children in underserved countries through "Pitch in for Baseball," a national nonprofit organization that delivers equipment to countries that might not have it otherwise.

Admission is free.
