A man who confessed to murdering his stepdaughter, Crystal Dittmeyer, died in Kentucky less than three years after being released from Oklahoma in a plea deal.

Benjamin Harry Crider II, 49, of Marion, Ky., died in his home in Marion May 28, according to an obituary listed with the Crittendon Free Press. No cause of death was listed.

In 2005, Crider pleaded guilty to the murder of Crystal Dittmeyer, his adopted daughter, in return for his release from prison.  However, authorities say he never revealed the location of her body.  Dittmeyer went missing in June 1996.

The obituary states that Crider was a registered nurse and is survived by his mother, a brother, and a sister, all of Marion, and was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Harry Crider.

The obituary makes no mention of Crystal Dittmeyer. "Ben Fenwick
