Rosanne Cash will present Oklahoma native Wanda Jackson at Saturday's 2009 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio.
Museum spokesman Margaret Thresher confirmed Friday that Cash will introduce Jackson at the 8 p.m. ceremony.
Cash is a Grammy-winning singer-songwriter and the daughter of country legend Johnny Cash. Her 1985 hit, "I Don't Know Why You Don't Want Me," won that year's Grammy for Best Female Country Vocal Performance and her most recent album, "Black Cadillac," was nominated for a 2006 Grammy in the best contemporary/Americana album category.
Jackson, born in Maud, is a renowned rockabilly and country music singer who began her career in the 1950s. She toured with, and dated, Elvis Presley, and is credited for being the first female rock 'n' roll singer. Hailed by many as the "Queen of Rockabilly," she is 71 and still performs across the country. Her 1958 song, "Let's Have a Party," was a recent finalist in the state 's search for an official Oklahoma Rock Song.
Jackson will join Jeff Beck, Metallica, Run-D.M.C, and five other artists as the 2009 class of inductees. Saturday's ceremony is the first held at the Cleveland since 1997 and will be broadcast live on the Fuse Television channel. "James Lovett
