Seeing red

Automated DVD kiosk company Redbox " aka those red boxes you see outside McDonald's, Walgreens, Homeland and Walmart stores around town " announced that it reached "a milestone" this month, by dispensing its 8 millionth disc rental in Oklahoma City.

(We hate to take the wind out of the sales, but we fear it may have been CFN intern Bucky renting "Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus" ... again.)

In what may be the most personal, heartfelt, interactive press-release quote ever, Redbox prez Mitch Lowe said, "Redbox is thrilled to deliver affordable home entertainment to movie lovers throughout the Oklahoma City area. Thank you for making Redbox your local video store and for helping us to reach this milestone."

Redbox has 158 locations in the metro area, several of which clog up the parking lots and drive-through lines of Mickey D's.

Meanwhile, at Blockbuster Video, a cricket chirped.
