There have been more live albums recorded in Oklahoma City than one might think. Here is a sampling:
Ernest Tubb " "On Tour"
Recorded live at Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa in 1962, it has long been alleged that these tracks weren't live at all.
Neil Young " "Time Fades Away"
Released in 1973, this live album of then-unreleased material is culled from many different shows, including one at The Myriad in OKC. Two tracks come from that show: the title track and "L.A."
The Replacements " "The Shit Hits the Fans"
When the 'Mats played the old Bowery circa their "Let It Be" album, some wise guy decided to make a little souvenir for himself by surreptitiously taping the show.
The band found out about it, took the tape, and officially released it as a cassette.
Chet Baker " "Out of Nowhere"
This disc features the jazz titan in his twilight years, live at the Nine of Cups in Tulsa on Christmas Eve of 1982.
While the long years of heroin abuse had taken their toll, Baker still was compelling.
The Grateful Dead " "Dick's Picks, Vol. 19"
Recorded live at the Fairgrounds Arena in OKC in October 1973, this three-disc extravaganza is among the best of the extensive "Dick's Picks" series of Dead shows.
Elvis Presley " "Spring Tours '77"
Recorded in the dark months before Elvis permanently left the building, this 23-track compilation is available only from Graceland. Four songs here were recorded at the second night of Elvis' March appearance in Norman at the Lloyd Noble Center.
Merle Haggard " "Okie from Muskogee"
Released in 1969, this is the quintessential live-in-Oklahoma album, taped in Muskogee. "Thomas Anderson
