In an
interview with ESPN.com’s SoonerNation blog, Meinke admitted that the
revelation of his pick prompted a deluge of reaction, not all of it from
happy campers.
“Judging
from Twitter, I think I’ve made a bunch of new friends from
Stillwater,” joked Meinke, a first-time voter in the AP poll. “But
unless you’re an extreme outlier ... I don’t really understand criticism
of preseason polls. They’re guesses. Educated ones, but still, it’s
just guesswork based on things that matter in games.”
