Stock Market Crash giving away CD valentines at gig

Metro pop-rockers The Stock Market Crash have a major crush on their Oklahoma City audience. To show their love, band members are giving away hand-painted valentines Friday night in the form of a limited-edition single containing five new songs.

Friday's show at The Conservatory, 8911 N. Western, will be the band's first in six months, according to guitar player Derek Knowlton. The four-piece has spent the time writing, rehearsing and recording demos, some of which caught the ear of Linda Perry, best known for her stint as the front woman of 4 Non Blondes and for songs she has written for the likes of:
" Pink,
" Gwen Stefani and
" Christina Aguilera.

Knowlton said the group will head to California this spring to work with Perry one-on-one.

CONCERT
Each "Letters to St. Valentine" single became an art project for the band, Knowlton said.

"They aren't mass-produced in any way," he said. "We went wild, had a blast and made each one unique."

Sharing the bill Friday are:
" OKC's lush indie-rock band The Uglysuit and
" DJs from Dance Robots, Dance!

Knowlton said everyone is encouraged to wear their hearts on their sleeves " literally " for the "My Bloody Valentine" show, which the band hopes will be a crazy costume party with thrift-store prom dresses and fake blood spatters.

The all-ages show is $7 and starts at 8 p.m. For more information, call 607-4805. "Joe Wertz
