Strong acting gives Jewel Box Theatre's 'Dracula' some serious, seasonal bite

While only somewhat faithful to the classic Bram Stoker novel of the same name, this particular version of "Dracula" being staged by Jewel Box debuted in 1924. It would go on to define the vampire for generations by introducing a more sophisticated and alluring version of the character, clothed in the now-trademark formal suit and opera cape.

As an adaptation, "Dracula" works as a condensed version of the narrative, but also includes some strange changes, like making Lucy the focus of Dracula's advances, and not Mina.
