Locally, the Day of the Dead feast was held at Casa de Los Milagros Mexican Restaurant & Cantina, 5111 N. Classen. It was standing room only for the appearance of Tlalikuautli (“The Land of the Eagles”), an energetic group of Aztec dancers who wowed the audience with their dancing; tall, graceful feathers; and colorful costumes.
Pianist Patricia Tello accompanied her husband, Carlos Tello, while he completed a huge painting. Amber Sharples announced the winners of the altar competition in the restaurant: Ingrid Carola Munoz, Milo Borges and Sylvia de Loera.
Milagros owner Julian Gonzalez is already planning for next year’s festivities.
