Tatyana Fazlalizadeh: Oklahoma is Black depicts and celebrates black residents of Oklahoma City's Northeast side, where the artist grew up. Using wheatpaste posters, as well as oil paintings, historic photos, and videos, Fazlalizadeh will turn Oklahoma Contemporary's galleries into a site-specific installation, which she is calling "a love letter to black people and blackness in Oklahoma." Now based in Brooklyn, Fazlalizadeh has become internationally known for her work giving voice to historically marginalized groups. She worked with Spike Lee on his TV series She's Gotta Have It and is currently an Artist in Residence for New York City.
