The Oklahoma City Orchestra League opens the doors to its 37th annual Symphony Show House to the public 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays, now through May 16 at The Mansion on Lake Overholser, 2550 E. Overholser Drive.

Each room of the house has been decorated by 41 designers, such as Mathis Brothers, Bob Mills, Traditions Fine Furniture and Design and Mister Robert Fine Furniture and Design.

The house hadn't been updated since the 1980s, when it was built. The mansion's residents moved out last year, giving designers free reign to redesign their specific rooms, said Jessica Billingsly, Oklahoma City Orchestra League office manager. The house is also for sale.

The orchestra league offers a café and boutique with more than 40 vendors that has been temporarily installed at the mansion and staffed by league officers. This event is a fundraiser for the Oklahoma City Philharmonic and for teaching metro students at area schools that are unable to afford a music program, Billingsly said.

"With (the money we raise), we go to schools who cannot afford a music program and we give them the option to introduce kids to classical music," she said. "This is really for a lot of these kids: their first introduction to instruments in classical music. They don't really get an opportunity to see the instruments or handle the instruments, so we get them while their young and get them educated and get them into music."

Tickets are $12-$13.50. For more information, call 848-6787 or visit symphonyshowhouse.publishpath.com. "LeighAnne Manwarren
