Opening Night and the Thunder game against Phoenix will be popular attractions this New Year’s Eve, but a new tradition promises to help locals ring in 2016 with style.

TopGolf, one of Oklahoma City’s newest sports entertainment venues, will host its first New Year’s Eve celebration beginning 9 p.m. Dec. 31.

Reservations are going fast, and the night will include food, drinks, a live DJ, dancing and, of course, golf, said Ashley Harkness, marketing manager at TopGolf’s Oklahoma City location, 13313 Pawnee Drive.

“There’s obviously stuff going on for New Year’s, but I think this is a really cool place,” Harkness said. “I think you’ll be thoroughly entertained.”

Get out your dresses and tuxedoes because the theme is A Night in Hollywood. TopGolf’s lobby will be transformed into a 1950s glam fest with red carpet, paparazzi, masquerade masks, a magician, a photo booth and more.

“It’s our biggest party of the year,” Harkness said. “Everything’s going to be top-notch.”

There are three ticket options to choose from. General admission is $10 and tickets are available at the door. TopGolf game play, food and drinks must be purchased separately, and golf bays are subject to availability. General bay reservations are available for $75, which includes a reserved golf bay for up to six people and party favors.

The VIP bay reservation is $450 for up to six people and includes unlimited TopGolf game play from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., unlimited nonalcoholic beverages, one bottle of champagne for guests 21 and over, party favors and access to a VIP-only buffet. Chefs will be cooking tasty dishes, such as ancho smoked chicken street tacos, braised pork shoulder sliders with craft beer slaw, grilled shrimp skewers with a chimichurri drizzle, signature miniature mushi, chef-inspired push pops and doughnut holes with chocolate and Bavarian filling.

“It’s an amazing deal,” Harkness said.

TopGolf’s resident DJ Lite Bright will spin tunes all night and lead a countdown and champagne toast at midnight. There is no age limit for the event, but bar access is limited to patrons age 21 and over. For reservations, visit topgolf.com/nye.

Community buzz

Since TopGolf opened in June, the response has been positive, and Harkness said local celebrities like Thunder players Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and Serge Ibaka; musician Toby Keith; Oklahoma State University head football coach Mike Gundy; Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford; and University of Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield also have visited.

At TopGolf, players hit balls equipped with microchips that track each shot’s accuracy and distance while awarding points for hitting targets on the 215-yard outfield. The venue also features a full-service restaurant and three bars, indoor gaming areas with billiards and shuffleboard, a rooftop terrace, HDTVs in every bay and 3,000 square feet of private event space.

About 80 corporate platinum memberships have been sold, and Harkness said TopGolf has been busy with private holiday parties this season.

Oklahoma City resident Mike Nguyen, 26, became a TopGolf platinum member when the OKC site opened after he and his friends discovered the TopGolf in Dallas. Nguyen had not played golf before. Now he plays regularly.

“It’s a great place,” he said.
