Various artists - Crunk Hits Vol. 4

The most amazing thing about "Crunk Hits Vol. 4" is not that they managed to find more than a dozen "crunk hits" for a record, but that they have managed to do so on at least four occasions.

If you aren't familiar with the crunk genre, just think bouncy club music with less lyrics and a more repetitive talking style of vocal delivery. When Three 6 Mafia pioneered the style in the late Nineties, it stood in stark contrast to East and West Coast flavors of hip-hop, but lately the genre seems resigned to one-club-hit-wonder songs like "This Is Why I'm Hot" by rapper Mims, "Party Like a Rockstar" by Shop Boyz or "Pop, Lock & Drop It" by Huey.

Though it's doubtful many crunk songs or performers will celebrate long-lasting rap relevance, "Crunk Hits Vol. 4" does feature some artists like T.I., Fat Joe, Wyclef Jean and the aforementioned Three 6 Mafia, many of whom have doused their own successful style and lyrics with some crunk seasoning to capitalize on the style's recent popularity with young hip-hop fans.
