But music has more to offer than just fun and games. And with the sting of Mays natural disasters still weighing heavy on Oklahomans, Support Local Heroes: Vol 1 a 10-song compilation of Chevy Music Showcase artists benefitting ongoing disaster-relief efforts seeks to provide both spiritual and financial aid for those affected by the storms.
Specifically, it recognizes the heroes who helped in the tornadoes aftermath those who put others before self and make our world a better place to live.
Musically, the compilation strives for the pretty and poignant, and is bookended by two tracks that embody this theme: The 7 Projects a cappella Hymn for Oklahoma and Daniel Walchers take on the majestic Christian anthem Amazing Grace. His heartfelt rendition is particularly noteworthy, but the rising singer-songwriter truly shines on We Know Where Youre Going, a devastatingly tender and acoustic guitar-piano ballad and album highlight.
Ultimately, with 100 percent of CD/download and T-shirt sales benefitting the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, each track is commendable in cause alone. That each has a heart the size of Oklahoma is just added comfort.
