What’s a billion, anyway?

The mag noted McClendon had leveraged against his personally held oil and gas interests and has “mounds of debt.”

But
don’t get out your tiny violin just yet. McClendon will leave
Chesapeake April 1 with a severance package worth about $47 million.
Although he’s no longer a billionaire (wiping tears away), he still
won’t have to sweat out whether he pays the electric bill or water bill
first.

If it’s any
consolation, McClendon still has part ownership of the Oklahoma City
Thunder and consequently remains a season ticket holder. Surely that
helps take his mind off the life-altering dilemma of being a
mega-millionaire instead of a billionaire.
