When Longhorns attack

The storied Red River Rivalry has a history of gettin' mighty heated. Chicken-Fried News readers painfully recall when a University of Oklahoma football fan was accused of grabbing the cojones of a University of Texas fan in an Oklahoma City bar fight. And Sam Bradford told ESPN.com the following nugget about the annual Cotton Bowl shootout: "Texas fans banging on your bus, giving you the finger, yelling at you. You got OU fans yelling Boomer Sooner. There's nothing like it."

Former Longhorn quarterback Vince Young wasn't flipped the bird during a recent Dallas strip club scuffle, but his passion for the rivalry apparently hasn't diminished. ESPN.com reported that Young was issued a Class C assault citation after an incident involving a man identified as Creiton Kinchen and an inverted "hook 'em 'Horns" gesture commonly used by Sooner fans.

"(Kinchen's comments) obviously made Mr. Young upset," Dallas police Lt. Craig Miller said, according to ESPN.com. "That conversation continues and there was more accusations against the University of Texas which prompted, in this case, Mr. Young to come back into the room where he just about exited."

Young, who hasn't played in OU-Texas since the 2005 season, is seen conversing with Kinchen and a club manager in surveillance video. After Kinchen's gesture " described by Miller as "contradictory to the University of Texas" " all hell breaks loose.

"This obviously made Mr. Young upset," Miller told The Dallas Morning News.

Obviously. The 45-year-old Kinchen, who police believe is from Oklahoma, ended up with a cut lip, according to The Dallas Morning News.

Young, now playing for the NFL's Tennessee Titans, reportedly apologized to teammates, coaches and fans.

"I just made a mistake," Young said, according to The Dallas Morning News. "I made a mistake even being there, and I let that guy provoke me into doing what I did."

And borrowing from MC Hammer ("you've got to pray just to make it today"), Young implored NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell not to punish him too mucho. If you haven't been keeping score, Pittsburgh Steelers "Big" Ben Roethlisberger is facing a six-game suspension after his recent nightclub antics.

"I pray to God that Roger Goodell doesn't come down hard on me, because I definitely want to be here for my teammates," Young reportedly said.

CFN intern Bucky has the following advice for Vince from Soonerland: If you can't stand the heat, stay away from the Kinchen.
