OKG: Tell Us a little bit about yourself and your year in review? (Have you gotten covid or anyone near you been affected?)
Jabee Williams: No, I haven't had covid. Despite Covid and so many deaths, 2020 was good for me. Blessed.
OKG: You had your new album come out in the middle of the pandemic. How did you adapt your strategy for the year for promoting your album?
Jabee Williams: I just found new and creative ways to push the album, the only setback was no album release show and no tour.
OKG: This World is So Fragile and Cruel I'm Glad I got You seems to be a perfect title for this year. Who have you leaned on the most this year?
Jabee Williams: My family, I’ve been leaning on them and trying to use this time to connect with them.
OKG: The nation and our city have had many protests this past year. What do you think about the events? What are the most needed changes that need to happen immediately?
Jabee Williams: I think for the most part the events were peaceful, it’s hard to know what's happening on the ground if you're hearing it second hand so I can only speak to things I participated in or organized and anything I organized was very peaceful.
OKG: What have you learned about yourself and your community this year?
Jabee Williams: I’ve learned that we don't know our neighbors as much as we thought we did. I'm challenging myself to get to know more people and their experiences and hopefully gain some understanding and share mine and hopefully they gain some from me.
OKG: Who or what has inspired you the most this year?
Jabee Williams: This year I've been inspired by so many great people around me. Cody Bass, Francie Ekwerekwu, Jess Eddy, Irv Roland, Jay Rid, Jason Freeman, Kris Kanaly, Antoinette Jones, and Julius Jones.
OKG: First thing you want to do when Covid is gone?
Jabee Williams: THROW A BIG PARTY AT TOWER THEATRE.
