Zam-boneheaded

Let’s be honest: After a few cocktails, the urge to drive that thing strikes deep.

On May 4, that impulse might have just been too much for Spencer Holt. He was arrested and charged with destruction of property and public drunkenness after allegedly acting on an alcohol-induced itch.

According to police, the
24-year-old Holt drove the Zamboni through a gate and onto the ice at
the Cox Convention Center. After getting stuck trying to exit the rink,
he stepped down from his perch and ran circles around the Zamboni — in
what must have been a melee for the ages — before security was able to
detain him.

Holt told
police that he used to drive a Zamboni in Texas, and that a Cox
Convention Center employee told him he could drive this one.
