The Oklahoma City Zoo is preparing to light up the holiday season with the return of OKC Zoo Safari Lights, presented by OG&E, Nov. 14 through Jan. 3, 2027.
Now in its sixth year, the popular holiday attraction will feature new illuminated lantern displays, interactive experiences and expanded ticket options. Guests can explore the colorful sculptures from their vehicles or on foot, with additional opportunities for private gatherings and VIP experiences.

“We’re incredibly proud that Oklahomans are making Safari Lights an annual happening for their family and friends, and want to ensure each experience is different,” said Jenna Dodson, OKC Zoo director of events and sales. “Each year, our teams go above and beyond to provide a quality event with exciting elements and extras that inspire lasting holiday memories and connections to the Zoo for guests of all ages.”
Safari Lights will be open nightly from 5:30 to 11 p.m., with the final check-in at 9:30 p.m., including Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
This year’s event offers four ways to experience the lights. Drive-thru combo tickets include admission for one vehicle and up to four guests for the walk-through portion, with prices starting at $45 for ZOOfriends members. Walk-through tickets begin at $10 per person for members and provide access to illuminated displays, interactive attractions and seasonal food and beverages.

For those looking for something different, Safari Sleigh Ride Tours offer guided drive-through experiences aboard festively decorated golf carts, complete with hot cocoa, blankets and VIP walk-through admission for groups of up to seven.
Private igloo rentals are also available, offering guests a cozy place to dine, gather or escape the winter weather while enjoying the lights. Three themed igloos are available, with rentals starting at $250. Each reservation includes a drive-thru combo ticket and walk-through admission for four, with additional guests available for $40 each, up to eight people.
New this year is the Holiday Hideaway, a festive retreat for guests ages 21 and older. The space will offer seasonal cocktails, beverages and food on Friday through Sunday evenings, as well as Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Access is included with walk-through admission.
Santa Claus will also make appearances in the Zoo’s Canopy Restaurant on Thursdays through Sundays, Nov. 14 through Dec. 24, from 6 to 10 p.m. Visits and photo opportunities with Santa are available at no additional charge.
Live entertainment will add to the festivities, with performances near the Zoo’s main entrance from 6 to 8 p.m. on select evenings. Scheduled performers include OKC Ballet’s Studio Company, Oklahoma Ballet Theatre in Edmond and carolers from Lyric Academy. Performances are included with walk-through admission.
The Zoo is also seeking volunteers ages 14 and older to assist with the event. Volunteers younger than 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Participants receive a complimentary Zoo general admission voucher and discounts on select event merchandise and treats.
Advance online reservations are required for Safari Lights, and ticket prices vary by date and experience. Guests are encouraged to reserve early, as availability is limited.
OKC Zoo Safari Lights is presented by OG&E, with additional support from Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages, Devon, Homeland, MidFirst Bank and other community sponsors.
