Downtown riders will need to plan ahead next week as Oklahoma City Streetcar service pauses for four days to accommodate construction tied to the city’s new arena project.
From Wednesday, Feb. 18 through Sunday, Feb. 22, streetcar operations will be temporarily suspended while crews complete work associated with the OKC New Arena. During that time, EMBARK will operate bus shuttles along the Downtown Loop to keep passengers moving.
Shuttle buses will arrive approximately every 25 minutes during regular operating hours and will stop at all 22 streetcar platforms along the route. Buses will display “OKC Streetcar Service – Downtown Loop” on their head signs. Real-time tracking will not be available, and riders are encouraged to allow extra travel time.
The Bricktown Loop will not operate during the service interruption.
Streetcar fares remain free through July 5, and no ticket is required to board the replacement shuttle buses.
Lane closures planned
Motorists can also expect temporary lane closures downtown during the construction window:
- One eastbound lane on Sheridan Avenue between Ron Norick Boulevard and South E.K. Gaylord Boulevard will be closed.
- One westbound lane on Reno Avenue between South E.K. Gaylord Boulevard and Robinson Avenue will also be closed.
Detour signage will be posted to help direct traffic through the area.
Thunder Game Day Bus Shuttles will continue to operate as scheduled — running two hours before and one hour after home games — with updates available at EMBARK’s website.
