Oklahoma City Museum of Art goes virtual

Since we can't go to Oklahoma City Museum of Art for the foreseeable future, OKCMOA is bringing the museum to our computers.

"There is no replacement for standing in front of a great work of art, spending time in its presence, seeing what the artist saw. Unfortunately, it is an experience that has been put on hold for now, along with so many other things, both cultural and social, that make our lives richer. So, while we cannot fully replicate what makes museums so essential at this time, we at OKCMOA still want to provide you with a virtual experience of the Museum and its mission—to enrich lives through the visual arts," Michael J. Anderson, president and CEO, said in a statement on the museum website March 18.

OKCMOA is writing blog posts and sharing videos about its collection, featuring working artists in the community, and updating its Museum Films blog with content about at-home screening options and planned films coming to Noble Theater. It will also be sharing educational content for children at home.

The museum also joins the #MuseumMomentofZen campaign, an online effort by museums to offer a moment of calm and meditation by posting works of art and culture on social media.

The museum will post its online content Wednesday-Sunday at okcmoa.com/virtual-okcmoa.
