SHINE = Start Helping Impacted Neighborhoods Everywhere
SHINE Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to enhancing our communities through meaningful service efforts. Working closely with Oklahoma County, neighborhood associations, local community groups, and businesses, SHINE strives to create a cleaner, safer place to live.
Established in 2010 by the Oklahoma County Commissioners, the SHINE Program offers community service as an alternative to jail time. The program engages low-risk, non-violent offenders in projects such as cultivating community gardens, removing debris and graffiti, and revitalizing public spaces. Its success inspired Commissioner Brian Maughan to expand SHINE’s mission, encouraging students and citizens to participate in and be recognized for their community service contributions.
