Didn’t know that. We thought the Brits were a snobby group when it comes to music. Heck, they worshipped The Flaming Lips well before these United States — not to mention li’l ol’ Oklahoma — got around to it.
We bring this up because Toby Keith looks well-prepared to conquer England. Last month, the Okie country singer and restaurateur racked up two British Country Awards for International Act of the Year and International Album of the Year, the latter for Clancy’s Tavern.
Chicken-Fried News guesses he’ll repeat the feat with his forthcoming disc, Hope on the Rocks, due Nov. 13. Judging from this line in a release from his publicist, it seems all but guaranteed: “His unchecked succession of self-penned and top-charting albums and singles is a monument of consistency unrivaled in popular music.”
Yeah! Shove it, Beatles!
