Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, and Oklahoma City residents can plan to trick-or-treat on Oct. 31.
The City of Oklahoma City does not set official trick-or-treating hours. Residents handing out candy are encouraged to turn on their porch lights to let families know they are participating.
OKC Parks is also offering several Halloween events leading up to the holiday.
Halloween on the Green
4-8 pm Friday, Oct. 23
Will Rogers Gardens, 3400 NW 36th St.
The event includes crafts, treats, glitter tattoos and a trick-or-treat trail. Registration is $5 for participants, while those not trick-or-treating may attend free.
Adaptive Trunk-or-Treat
6:30-8 pm Monday, Oct. 26
Southern Oaks Community Center, 400 SW 66th St.
The free event, presented with Sooner Success, includes trick-or-treating, games, art activities and a resource fair.
Halloween Harvest
5-7:30 pm Friday, Oct. 30
Pitts Community Center, 1920 N Kate Ave.
The free come-and-go event will feature treats, games, music, crafts and glowing Halloween activities.
City officials are also reminding families to keep costumes visible, use flashlights or reflective material, supervise younger children and stick to well-lit streets. Drivers are urged to slow down and watch carefully for children in neighborhoods.
Pet owners should keep candy – especially chocolate – out of reach and consider keeping dogs away from frequently opened doors during trick-or-treating.
Registration and additional information about OKC Parks Halloween programs are available through okc.gov/parks.
