Luckily, the Oklahoma City metro is full of fun, local shops offering everything from tree trimmings to throw pillows that will warm your abode with holiday cheer.
Southern Fried Vintage (225 S. Broadway Ave., Moore; 799-4770) is the perfect place to find festive wreaths to adorn your front door or even an inside wall. Choose from wreaths made from Christmas tree branches and colorful bulbs and ones made with ribbons or burlap. It even carries home décor like pillows, garlands and handmade holiday potpourri with pinecones to make it easier to spread holiday cheer throughout your entire home.
If you find that your tree is still a little lacking, visit Blessings And Blooms (blessingsnblooms.com; 419 W. Main St., Yukon; 577-6790). This shop carries an array of tree trimmings including ornaments, garland, twinkle lights, ribbon and even fake snow. You can also pick up stockings, candles, gift boxes and Christmas figurines while there.
For decorations that are more eclectic and cultural, stop by Folk.Life (4411 N. Western Ave.; 524-1500). Choose from colorful Christmas tree ornaments, and check out its Mexican tin ornament Christmas cards. (Also, if you’re still looking for something decorative to wear to a holiday party, Folk.Life carries bead bracelets all the way from Oaxaca, Mexico. They feature roses and festive birds.)
Urbane Home & Lifestyle (shop.urbaneokc.com; 4209 N. Western Ave.; 602-2555) carries a variety of interesting ornaments — everything from whimsical to gold-plated — and even some decorative holiday cookie plates featuring Old Saint Nick. You can also browse its selection of garland, mistletoe and tabletop trees. Who doesn’t like a tiny, cute tabletop tree?
Plenty Mercantile (plentymercantile.com; 807 N. Broadway Ave; 888- 7470) carries an array of consciously and responsibly produced holiday décor, including ornaments, garland, candles, place mats, table runners and even mistletoe under which you can strategically wait to kiss your holiday crush, which, on second thought, might not seem too responsible. If kissing isn’t your mission and you prefer a bit of fun at the expense of children, you can scare them by placing bags of candy coal (and other holiday candy) from Plenty within their view. After all, Santa doesn’t respond kindly to naughty children.
If you’ve already finished your decorating but feel like your home is missing that special something, stop by Chirps & Cheers (chirpsandcheers. com; 100 N. Broadway Ave., Edmond; 509-6336). This stationary store carries stationary ready for that letter to Santa, gift tags and quirky holiday cards — one even suggesting that you “deck the halls and not your family” — that will take you back to when your mantle (and the wall around it) was filled with Christmas cards from loved ones near and far.
