Oklahoma City Ballet unveiled its 2026-27 season, featuring a mix of classical favorites, contemporary works and family-friendly productions, including the company’s first-ever production of Don Quixote.
The season opens Sept. 11 with the seventh annual Ballet Under the Stars at Scissortail Park. The free outdoor performance will feature excerpts from classical ballets alongside contemporary works, offering audiences a preview of the company’s artistic range.
The mixed-repertory program SHORTS returns to Civic Center Music Hall Oct. 23-25 with three distinctive works spanning ballet history. The program includes George Balanchine’s Serenade, Christopher Bruce’s contemporary ballet Hush, set to music by Yo-Yo Ma and Bobby McFerrin, and Agnes de Mille’s American classic Rodeo.
The holiday tradition The Nutcracker, presented by Devon Energy and The Chickasaw Nation, returns Dec. 11-21 at Civic Center Music Hall. Artistic Director Ryan Jolicoeur-Nye’s production features Tchaikovsky’s score performed live by the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, with vocal performances by Canterbury Youth Voices. A sensory-friendly performance is scheduled for Dec. 21 at 2 pm.
A major highlight of the season comes Feb. 12-14, 2027, when Oklahoma City Ballet presents Don Quixote for the first time in company history. Based on Miguel de Cervantes’ classic novel, the lively ballet follows the adventures of the eccentric knight while celebrating the romance of Kitri and Basilio. The production will feature sets and costumes originally created for American Ballet Theatre and choreography by Jolicoeur-Nye.
The company’s dancers will step into the role of choreographers during Future Voices: A Choreographic Showcase, returning for its eighth year March 12-21, 2027. Performances will take place at the Susan E. Brackett Dance Center and Oklahoma Contemporary, showcasing original works created by company members.
The season concludes with Kenneth Tindall’s Alice in Wonderland, running April 30 through May 9, 2027, at Civic Center Music Hall. The production combines contemporary choreography with multimedia effects to bring Lewis Carroll’s beloved story to life.
Season subscriptions go on sale Feb. 20 and include priority seating, discounted ticket prices and free ticket exchanges. Single tickets will be available beginning Sept. 8, 2026.
