Sunday
It wasnt long ago that the Harlem Globetrotters last trotted through town, but when they return at 2 p.m. Sunday, theyre bringing something new: the first-ever 4-point shot.
With basketballs crown princes slated to play against the Washington Generals at the Oklahoma City Arena, 100 W. Reno, the 4-point shot is made from 35 feet from the basket (see diagram). If you want to appear smart, tell your kids thats 12 feet more than the NBAs official 3-point line.
For further wow, Dad! effect, marvel your children with these handy nuggets of Globetrotters trivia:
When they starred in the 1981 telefilm The Harlem Globetrotters on Gilligans Island, they didnt really go there. Because Gilligan is a fictional character, see. Hes not real.
They hear Sweet Georgia Brown in their sleep, yknow.
White men cant jump, thats why. Tickets start at $19. For more information, call 800-745-3000 or visit theokcarena.com. Rod Lott
