Recorded at the legendary Electric Lady Studio in New York City’s Greenwich Village, the album finds Adams’ perhaps aided by sobriety’ managing to focus on writing and arranging some of his most tear-wrenching and honest songs.
“Oh My God, Whatever, Etc.” is an album standout, as is “These Girls.” Bluegrassy banjos and a mandolin punctuate “Pearls on a String” and accompany an extra-twangy Adams. The single, “Everybody Knows,” is cathartic and melancholy, during which Adams wails, “You come for me in the worst of places…”
Those bad places have given Adams something to work through, chronicle and write about. “Easy Tiger” is wonderful album that should keep him in the best of places for some time to come.
